HMS to host CCS Motorcycle finale Dec. 1-2
Florida residents to compete for titles in 30 motorcycle racing classes WHAT: The Championship Cup Series of Florida returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend for the final motorcycle road races of 2007. Champions will be decided in 30 of 39 classes as well as the overall expert and amateur championships. WHEN: Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 1-2, 2007 WHERE: Homestead-Miami Speedway - One Speedway Blvd - Homestead, Fla. SATURDAY: Gates Open: 8 a.m. Practice & Time Trials: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. SUNDAY: Gates Open: 7 a.m. Practice: 8-9 a.m. GT Races (5): 9:30-11:30 a.m. Sprint Races (14): 12-5 p.m. ADMISSION: Saturday: $10; Sunday: $20; 2-Day Pass: $25 (Children under 12: free; Parking: free) STANDINGS: In the expert overall race for the No. 1 plate, Santiago Villa of Sunrise leads Greg Melka of Tampa by 265 points. Villa, however, was seriously injured in a refueling fire while competing at Daytona in October. He will be in attendance in hopes of racing, but if he is unable to compete Melka needs only to finish in the Top 10 of the races for which he’s registered to claim the championship. Juan Hurtado of Coral Springs leads Mark Carbajal of Winter Park in the amateur overall and will claim the title by finishing in the Top 20 of each of his races.
